AMERICA I AM - THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN IMPRINT
America I AM: The African American Imprint is a four-year touring museum exhibition that celebrates nearly 500 years of African American contributions to this country. I visited here today and besides the no picture taking and no cell phone rule it was quite enlightening and nostalgic.

CYRAH'S DIVINE 9 LIST - NPHC

History
The National Pan-Hellenic Council was established in an age when racial segregation and disenfranchisement plagued African Americans, the rise of each of the black fraternities and sororities that make up the NPHC bore witness to the fact that despite hardships African Americans refused to accede to a status of inferiority.
The organization's stated purpose and mission in 1930:
Unanimity of thought and action as far as possible in the conduct of Greek letter collegiate fraternities and sororities, and to consider problems of mutual interest to its member organizations.
The chair of the committee for the National Pan-Hellenic Council was the 13th Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Matthew W. Bullock. The founding members of the NPHC were Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, and Zeta Phi Beta. The council's membership expanded as Alpha Phi Alpha (1931), Phi Beta Sigma (1931), Sigma Gamma Rho (1937), and Iota Phi Theta (1997) joined this coalition of Black Greek letter organizations (BGLOs). In his book on BGLOs, Lawrence Ross coined the phrase "The Divine Nine" when referring to the coalition.
In 1992, the first permanent national office for NPHC was established in Bloomington, Indiana on the campus of Indiana University through the joint cooperation of Indiana University and the National Board of Directors of NPHC.

PRETTY WINGS - THE WHISPERING EYE
While on a roadtrip at 0430 in the morning form Tallahassee FL, to Ellenwood GA, I listened to the groovy sounds of Maxwell. Now I'm not a definition "music listener" I don't go with what's new ie. snap music, you're a jerk, stickin and rollin, stick drill, lean with it do the soulja boy to these nuts....I'm the type of guy that likes genuine hip-hop like Mos Def, Common, Nas, and Lupe Fiasco to name a few. I also like Techno, Trance, Classical, and Nintendo Midis, like yes, I will bump them in my 95 Maxima. However, there is something about this neo-soul that is growing on me. When I first heard Maxwell's song "Pretty Wings" I originally thought it was about him breaking up with the woman he wanted because he cared that much about her.....but that is not the case. Apparently, according to feedback on my twitter @CyrahOmega, the people say the whole song is about a woman's vagina....let's take a gander here:THE LYRICS
Time will bring the real end of our trial
One day there'll be no remnants no trace
No residual feelings within ya
One day you won't remember me.
Your face will be the reason I smile
But I will not see what I cannot have forever
I'll always love ya
I hope you feel the same.
Oh, you played me dirty, your game was so bad
You toyed with my affliction
Had to fill out my prescription
Found a remedy
I had to set you free.
Away from me
To see clearly
The way that love can be when you are not with me
I had to leave
I had to live
I had to leave
I had to live.......
If I can't have you
Let love set you free to fly your pretty wings around.
Pretty wings, your pretty wings, your
Pretty wings. Pretty wings around.
I came wrong you were right
Transformed your love into lie
Baby believe me I'm sorry I told you lies
I turned day into night
Sleep till I die a thousand times
I should have showed you better nights, better times, better days
And I miss you more and more
If I can't have you
Let love set you free
To fly your pretty wings around
Pretty wings, your pretty wings, your
Pretty wings, your Pretty wings around
So Pretty wings, your pretty wings, your
Pretty wings, your Pretty wings around
Say Pretty wings, oh pretty wings,
Pretty wings yeah, Pretty wings around
Pretty wings, your pretty wings around,
pretty wings, your pretty wings around
Pretty , Pretty , Pretty
Pretty wings, your pretty wings, your
Pretty wings, Pretty wings around
Someone better is gonna love you
Someone, Someone is gonna love you baby
Pretty wings, your pretty wings,
Pretty wings, Pretty wings around (x4)
Analysis:
This song actually has nothing to do with a vagina. It is too much of a good song for me to skew into something as such. That'll be all, phone call over.
Sincerely,
CyrahOmega

THE TOTAL PACKAGE WOMAN - DOES SHE EXIST?

In my recent ventures to the Bloody Beta Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, located at the historically black Clark Atlanta University, the brothers, in conjunction with the Sigma chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, held a seminar entitled "Running the Bases". The seminar focused on dress and dating etiquette for collegiate black students, and was very enlightening. They had skits, discussions, and even open Q&A sessions. Good conversation sparked within the hallowed halls of academe that fit around 100-120 students. Towards the end of the seminar, a panel of Deltas and Ques were selected to answer questions posed by the host, hostess, and audience. Hasani 'Sani' Mac, my deuce sands from Beta Psi, "threw me in" last minute, and I gave the ole "FAMU intro" (My name is Cyrah Hawkins a recent graduate of Florida A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, I hail from Atlanta Georgia and I have the esteemed pleasure yada yada ya...). After the "creamy intro", I sat on the end of the panel opposite of Milt. The first question posed to the panel was "what is the total package"? Everyone on the panel; Deltas, Ques, prophytes, neophyes... they all answered the question to their personal liking. I, however answered simply:
THE VIRTUOUS WOMAN
PROVERBS 10:10-31 NIV
10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 "Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31 Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
SINCERELY,
YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD QUE DOG. ROO!

WHY JESUS WAS SO OWT - SHEOL HELL

After venturing to Atlanta for the Omega Psi Phi six chapter Oil Spill, my brothers and I traveled safely back to Tallahassee FL, and made it to church on sunday for the start of Omega Week. 12 April 2009 - 19 April 2009. We came on time and got the word and it went a little something like this...
Every Christian knows that the only way to get into heaven is through Jesus...
"NO MAN cometh unto the Father, BUT BY ME."
John 14:6
The way you get to Jesus is to obey The 10 Commandments and be righteous...
“For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of HEAVEN.
Matthew 5:20
Now the question at hand is, "how did of the righteous people who followed the commandments and praised and worshipped the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob get into heaven?
The answer: They didn't.
Where did they go you ask?
They went to Hell....She'ol Hell...which simply mean "the place of the dead"
Basically if you were a Christian before Christ then you went to Sheol Hell. Tis paradise in hell was seperated by a river and was not fiery like hades. This can be proven through the story of Lazarus and the rich man.
“The rich man died, and was buried; and in Hell (Hades) he lifted up his eyes, being in torments,” Here we see that those in Hades will be tormented in body as was the rich man. Also, this was no cool place; he was “tormented in this flame”. It speaks of “his eyes”, “he saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom”. “Send Lazarus, that he may “cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame”.
Luke 16:19-31
When Jesus cried upon the Cross, "Oh, Father, why have You forsaken Me?" it was then He was separated from the Father because of the sin poured out upon Him. As He gave up His spirit, He said, "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit." His suffering was completed in our stead. His soul/spirit went to the Paradise side of Hades "Sheol Hell". Jesus did not go to Hades. Jesus’ suffering ended the moment He died. The payment for sin was paid. He then awaited the resurrection of His body and His return to His glory in His ascension. He went down there and preached a revival to the saints and brought them with him from Sheol Hell.
The fact is, Jesus made it possible for us to be in the presence of the Lord through the Holy Spirit baptism. We become the body of Christ who is sitting at the right hand of God. As the tabernacle of God, we are in His presence in the Spirit. That includes the saints who where held in "Sheol" until the resurrection. Some of their bodies were resurrected out of the graves.
Jesus rose on the third day in the flesh, not as the spirit, as well as the righteous people,and they ascended into heaven as he did.
Luke 24:39
This all ties in to the second coming of Jesus in the book of revelations. However I will save that blog for another day. My point of bringing up the subject of how Jesus was outstanding with tenacity in regards to his Sheol Hell experience is that he was criticized, publically humiliated, and mutilated for his beliefs and very presence. He preched the word of God, roadtripped with the word, died for our sins, praye for the well being of his enemies who conspired against him, went to Sheol Hel, preached a revival, then came back to his disciples to prove his point and to show them that faith in a friend is essential, then ascended into heaven only to tell everybody to learn from his sacrifice and he will be back.....SO BE READY
JESUS WAS THE OWTEST PERSON IN LIFE!
